Marilyn and Bacon first met in 1948 at the old Naples Restaurant in Hollywood.  In 1977 Bacon wrote a 'kiss and tell' article entitled 'The Night I Made It with Marilyn Monroe' in which he claimed that he visited Marilyn while she was living at Joe Schenck's guest house in Los Angeles.

Following Marilyn's death, a few eyebrows were raised as he claimed he was in Marilyn's Brentwood bedroom the morning of August 5th, 1962, while her lifeless body was still on the bed.
