Andre De Dienes was one of the best stills photographers that Marilyn worked with in her career.  Many of his shots circa 1945-1949 are the most exquisite documentation of early Marilyn Monroe.

On an extended photoshoot which took him and Marilyn to Vegas, Oregon, the Mojave, and Yosemite, Andre fell in love with the then Norma Jeane.  According to de Dienes, the couple planned to get married and, in order to be with him in New York, Norma Jeane planned to move east to study law at Columbia University.  However, once back in Hollywood, Norma Jeane broke off the engagement.  De Dienes was understandably furious.
