ROBERT F. KENNEDY

Occupation: Senatore
Place of Meeting: Party
Year Relationship began: 1961
Type of Relationship: Relationship

“Bobby Kennedy promised to marry me” Marilyn Monroe to Bob Slatzer

According to Lawrence Guiles, author of Legend: The Life and Death of Marilyn Monroe, Marilyn met Robert F. Kennedy at one of actor Peter Lawford's Santa Monica dinner parties in 1961 and that the affair between the two took place in 1962 in the months before Marilyn's death.

“She told me that she was seeing somebody, but she didn't want to burden me with the responsibility of knowing who it was, because he was well known.  So she was going to call him 'The General'” Joan Greenson

What really happened at the scene of Marilyn's death is still unknown and hotly debated. However, Marilyn's housekeeper admitted in 1985 that Bobby Kennedy was at Marilyn's Brentwood home on the afternoon of her death. Kennedy also allegedly testified that he did indeed go to Marilyn's house on August 4th and that he was escorted by a doctor, who injected Marilyn with a tranquiliser to calm her down.  Some people have accused Kennedy of being responsible for Marilyn's 'murder' while others have accused him of a mere cover-up.
